A printed series about the edges of the city.
Margem is the studio’s own publication: a series of small booklets about neighbourhoods at the edge of São Paulo, each made with a writer and a photographer who live there. It is also where we test typography and print techniques before using them for clients.

Challenge
The format had to be cheap enough to give away but considered enough that people would keep it. Each issue had to be produced in two weeks, around client work.
Approach
Every booklet uses the same sixteen-page format, one paper stock and two spot colours. Only the cover lettering changes, drawn by hand for each neighbourhood.
Result
Four issues have been printed in runs of five hundred copies. The series has already led to two commissions from cultural institutions that first met the studio through it.
